  • About Music for Videogames

This Album was inspired by my passion for electronic music, love for my kids and loss of work due to COVID.

My music has been influenced by the works of Bach, FatRat, Mozart, Deadmau5, Jelly Roll Morton, Aphex Twin and Nine Inch Nails just to name a few. Another big influence in my sound was having the opportunity of being my kids middle school Dance-A-Thon DJ.

You might be wondering why a guy promoting his EDM music would call his site James Plays piano. Funny story, my kids middle school needed to find a new DJ. A friend at the school mentioned I was a piano player and fairly technical. How hard could DJing be was the thought. As it turns out it's like learning a whole new instrument and language. So the joke was, "James plays piano" why not just ask him to do it!

So I became DJ James and helped with the fundraising efforts for 5 years. I got to enjoy some great sounding POP and EDM on a proper club system. It was a ton of fun, and a fantastic experience to share with my kids.

DJing on a proper system with bass bins, Tractor and a laser lightshow gave me a taste for good sounding modern electronica. Big sound, made for big inspiration, and Music for Videogames was the result. This record is an addictive fast paced collection of songs in search of a game. Simple progressive harmony drenched in bass!
